Audition for The Singularity!


Science Fiction Theatre Company is holding auditions for our fall show is The Singularity by Crystal Jackson.

Audition Dates:

Saturday, June 21st at 1 PM at the Factory Theatre

Tuesday, June 24th at 7 PM at the Factory Theatre

Synopsis:

Astrid is on her last egg- if she does not get pregnant now, she’ll never have a child. The Singularity is a black comedy set in a dystopian future about a woman who will try anything to have a baby. When sperm banks and hookups fail her, Astrid desperation hits an all time low. She tries one last thing: dark matter. All Astrid wanted was to be a mother, but now she must ask “a mother to what?”

We are casting for:

1 woman (mid-thirties to mid-forties) and
2-6 men (mid-twenties to mid-sixties).

Actors of all color, size, and physical ability welcome. Non-AEA.

The show runs from September 19th – October 5th at The Factory Theatre. A stipend is included.

You may present one contemporary monologue. Sides will also be presented upon scheduling an audition slot.


Character Descriptions:

Astrid: (mid-thirties to mid-forties) Female. Desperate to have a child, willing to do anything to make this happen.

Scientist: (twenties) Male. Well-meaning, smart but clueless.

Lawyer: (mid-twenties to mid-sixties) Male. Creepy. You would want to wash your hand after shaking his.

Doctor: (mid-twenties to mid-sixties) Male. A cog in the machine.

Nurse: (mid-twenties to mid-sixties) Male (in drag). Menacingly sweet.

Bob: (mid-twenties to mid-sixties) Male. Attractive like say a successful wine salesman

Kyle: (mid-thirties to mid-forties) Male. Best friend to Astrid. A bit self involved.
