Science Fiction Theatre Company was founded by Brian McCarthy, Dan Grund and A. Vincent Ularich three long time members of the Boston fringe theatre scene. McCarthy and Grund had been staging adaptations of the old sci-fi radio shows X-1 through their company Counter Productions and Ularich had written a sketch comedy show about time travel when they decided that a company devoted solely to producing Science Fiction based plays was needed.

The company debuted at the Factory Theatre in Boston in the fall of 2011 with Dark Matters by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. That spring they followed Dark Matters with the British play On Ego by Mick Gordon. The company has also actively produced new works with several world and regional premieres including: The Man in the Couch by Alison Meirowitz-McCarthy, Solace by A. Vincent Ularich and The Aurora Project by Bella Poynton. In addition to their show season at the Factory Theatre, the company has been heavily involved in the local art community and had the honor of performing for the inaugural launch of the Boston arts festival Outside the Box.

Our Mission
